Terms of use
Last updated: 5 October 2026
Please read these terms before using Louddy. They're written to be clear, but they are a binding agreement.
Agreement
These terms are an agreement between you and EDSDEV INC. ("we", "us"), publisher of Louddy under the name Catio Apps. By downloading or using the Louddy app or website you accept them and our Privacy policy. If you got the app from the App Store, Apple's Standard EULA also applies; if these terms conflict with it, these terms apply to the extent allowed. You must be at least 13 (16 in the EEA and UK), or have a parent's or guardian's permission where the law allows.
What Louddy is
Louddy helps you practise speaking a language out loud with Lou, an AI tutor, plus lessons, word practice and quizzes. Lou's conversation is generated live by an AI model run by Google. Features, languages, moods and limits may change as we improve the service. Some features depend on third-party services and may be temporarily unavailable.
Subscriptions, trial and cancelling
- Plans. Louddy Premium is offered as a weekly or a yearly auto-renewing subscription. Prices are shown in the app or on the website before you buy, in your local currency, and may include taxes. A one-time discounted yearly offer may sometimes be shown.
- Free trial. The yearly plan may include a 3-day free trial for eligible new subscribers. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, it converts into a paid yearly subscription and you're charged. One trial per person.
- Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. Payment is charged to your Apple ID, Google Play account or the card you used on the web.
- Cancelling. Deleting the app does not cancel your subscription. Cancel where you subscribed:
- iPhone/iPad (App Store): Settings → your name → Subscriptions, or apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. Apple's guide.
- Android (Google Play): Play Store → Profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions, or play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions. Google's guide.
- Website: use the "manage subscription" link in your purchase receipt email from RevenueCat, or email support@catioapps.com.
- Refunds. App Store and Google Play purchases are refunded by Apple or Google under their policies (Apple, Google Play); we can't issue those refunds ourselves. For web purchases, email us. Nothing here limits refund or withdrawal rights you have under consumer law. In the EEA and UK, by starting to use a digital service immediately you acknowledge that your right of withdrawal may end once the service has started, as the law allows.
- Restoring. Use "Restore purchases" in the app, signed in to the same Apple or Google account you subscribed with.
Talk-time limits and fair use
Every minute of conversation with Lou has a real cost to us, so talk time is limited. Lessons, words and quizzes are not part of these limits. The current limits are:
| Plan | Conversation with Lou |
|---|---|
| Free trial | Up to 10 minutes a day and 20 minutes in total during the trial |
| Weekly | Up to 20 minutes a day and 93 minutes in any rolling 7 days |
| Yearly | Up to 20 minutes a day and 38 minutes in any rolling 30 days |
| No subscription | Conversation is not available |
Days are counted in UTC. The app tells you when you've reached a limit. We may change limits to keep the service sustainable; we'll update this page when we do, and give advance notice of reductions to paid plans where the law requires. We also have a service-wide daily capacity limit, and the AI service may occasionally be unavailable. We may limit or suspend accounts that try to get around limits or that use the service in an automated or abusive way.
AI-generated content
Lou's replies, corrections, transcripts and memory summaries are generated automatically by AI. They can be wrong, unnatural, out of date or inappropriate, and Lou may mishear you. Louddy is a practice tool, not certified language instruction or a qualification, and nothing Lou says is professional advice (medical, legal, financial or otherwise). Don't rely on it for anything important. If you get a harmful or offensive response, please report it to support@catioapps.com.
Adult moods (18+)
Some moods are comedy. "Savage" and "Boss" ask you to confirm before they start. "No Filter" is for adults only: Lou swears loudly at your mistakes. It is never on by default, you must confirm you're 18 or older to turn it on, and it can be switched off any time by choosing another mood. Even in No Filter, Lou is instructed never to use slurs, attack identity or appearance, make sexual content or threats; if you say "stop" or sound upset, Lou is instructed to apologise and become kind. Don't use adult moods if you're under 18 or if swearing would offend you.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use Louddy to create or try to make Lou produce illegal, hateful, sexual, violent or harassing content, or to target other people;
- try to bypass safety instructions, age confirmations, App Check, payment or talk-time limits;
- copy, reverse-engineer, scrape or resell the app, its content or its AI access, or access it with bots or scripts;
- record and publish conversations in a way that misleads people about who or what is speaking;
- break the law, or the policies of Apple, Google or Google Cloud's Generative AI Prohibited Use Policy.
Intellectual property
Louddy, Lou, the app, its lessons, artwork, voices and website belong to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app for your own learning. What you say stays yours; you give us and our providers the permission needed to process it to run the service, as described in the Privacy policy.
Disclaimers and liability
Louddy is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we don't promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or that you'll reach a given level. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for Louddy in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law (for example for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud), or your statutory rights as a consumer.
Ending these terms
You can stop using Louddy at any time (remember to cancel your subscription). We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, or if we stop offering Louddy; if we discontinue it, we'll give reasonable notice where we can.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, and disputes go to the courts of Ontario. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live and can bring claims there.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms; the "Last updated" date shows the latest version. If a change materially affects you, we'll give notice in the app or on this page before it applies. Continuing to use Louddy after that means you accept the new terms. Questions: support@catioapps.com.
